The King is Dead
POIGNANCY
noun
1. a state of deeply felt distress or sorrow
2. a quality that arouses emotions (especially pity or sorrow)
A moving image of a bloated fat fuck at the end of his life.
He was 42.
A man who spent years and years abusing his mind and body. Consuming feel-good pills and feel-good comfort foods by the truckload. Enjoying a materialistic bliss. Having no understanding...or care...for the world around him because someone, somewhere, was filling his pot with gold and peanut butter/banana sandwiches.
A southern man who had abundant passion and talent. A naïve man seemingly trying to do the right thing. A man possessing golden pipes that were horribly wasted and mismanaged. A person so used. So abused. So demoralized. A simple man whose cultural impact was incalculable...till the day he died.
So exploited.
All by assholes that saw him as a cash register spiting out money.
Still, with all of the above, he was trying desperately to put on a good performance.
Sounds like the American public to me.
I'm not ashamed to say that this historical piece of footage brought a tear to my eye.
